Laser hair removal is one of the most popular methods of becoming permanently hair-free. One question we are often asked is whether laser hair removal is also possible during summer. The answer is clearly YES!
However, there are a few things to bear in mind in summer in order to carry out the treatment safely and effectively!
Summer means sun and tanned skin! Both are challenges for laser hair removal. This is why:
Although lasers are a gentle hair removal method, the skin still needs a few days to fully recover from a laser treatment. This is why it is particularly sensitive in the days following a laser session. If the treated area is exposed to direct sunlight, the skin may be additionally stressed and the risk of a sunburn is significantly higher than it already is in summer. To avoid stressing the skin unnecessarily and risking burns or pigmentation shifts, you should avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds for 1-2 weeks after a laser session.
Sunbathing and visits to the solarium should also be avoided for around 1-2 weeks before the laser session. Once again, the skin should not be exposed to double stress. In addition, tanned skin contains more melanin, which can absorb some of the laser energy. At Real Beauty, we work with highly effective and modern technologies and can therefore also effectively laser tanned skin with the right settings.
That is our conclusion on laser hair removal during summer: with the right laser, laser treatment can be carried out safely and effectively even during summer. However, the treated areas still need to be protected from the sun and protected with SPF50, even for a brief contact with the sun.
